UK Lawmakers Reject Brexit Deal, Theresa May To Face No Confidence Vote

Over 100 lawmakers both Brexiteers and Remainers of May’s Conservative party voted against the Brexit deal, which led Minister Theresa May to suffer a crushing defeat in the Parliament on January 15, 2019. .

The withdrawal agreement had been discussed between European Union and Prime Minister Theresa May; the Britain is scheduled to leave the EU on March 29, 2019. British MPs prodigiously rejected Britain’s withdrawal deal by a vote of 432 to 202, a majority of 230 votes.

ISRO launches UNNATI Programme; will launch many satellites on January 24

On January 17, 2019, The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)   launched the UNNATI, which stands for (UNispace Nano-satellite Assembly and Training by ISRO) the programme was launched at theU R Rao Satellite Centre, Bengaluru.
The Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) capacity-building programme on nanosatellite development, UNNATI, was launched following an announcement made by ISRO Chairman K Sivan during a symposium in Vienna on June 18, 2018.

Election Commission of India launches Voter Awareness Forums

The Election Commission of India in New Delhi has launched Voter Awareness Forum (VAF) on January 16, 2019. Chief Electoral Officers in the state capitals and District Electoral officers in districts also launched Similar VAFs simultaneously. Through activities like discussions, quizzes, competitions, the VAFs will be generating awareness around the electoral process.

Gandhi Peace Prize announced for years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018

On January 16, 2019, Union Ministry of Culture announced the Gandhi Peace Prize for the years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The 2018 Gandhi Peace Prize was conferred to YoheiSasakawa, who is at the forefront of many philanthropic initiatives. His compassionate nature can be seen in the manner in which he has worked to eliminate leprosy in India.

Government constitutes Group of Ministers on issues relating to lottery
To deal with the issues related to lottery, the Ministry of Finance constituted a Group of Ministers on January 16, 2019 adhering to the decision taken by GST Council’s 32nd meeting held on January 10, 2019 at New Delhi.
The Secretary of the group shall be Manish Sinha, Joint Secretary, CBIC. The Group of Ministers to submit the report in next GST meeting.
