The first hurdle of UPSC CSE 2020 you will be facing in the bid to become a future bureaucrat is the UPSC Prelims Examination. By far, considered the toughest stage of the examination by most of the UPSC aspirants over the years. One reason can be attributed to the fact is the sheer number of the students that get churned out in the Prelims exam itself. Out of approx 5-6 lakhs aspirants appearing for the exam, a miserly 10000-12000 get the chance to appear for the UPSC Mains examination. A success ratio of less than 2%….!!!!!
With less than 1000 vacancies and the ever-evolving unpredictability of UPSC among others makes it quite difficult to go through the first stage. But, amidst such a situation also, every year there are those 1000 odd aspirants who get entry into LBSNAA, and who all they are? Humans only, right…!!!!!
Going forward, this should be your biggest motivation to clear the examination, UPSC is not immortal, and it can be cracked. You should have the right approach, strategic planning and able guidance.
Here, get a peep into the article as to “how can you make sure that you are through the UPSC CSE Prelims 2020”.
- The Right Approach:
Every aspirant has their own methods and ways to tackle the UPSC Syllabus. Ideally, there is no single full-proof approach to achieve success. What works for one, May not for the other. Identify your own ideal strategy for the exam and try to be loyal to it. For example, if you are comfortable studying at night, then be it. Make sure whenever you study, you finish your daily targets.
- Know Your Limits, Do not Overstretch:
UPSC is not only a test of your knowledge, but also your character and personality. The preparation phase teaches an aspirant a lot of things. One such important thing is to knowing your limits. We know, relentless hardwork is the key to success in this exam but that should not be demotivating for you. Even if you devote 4-5 fruitful hours a day instead of slogging for 14 hours, you still can sail through. Be smart in your approach, this is what will take you forward as a future bureaucrat.
- Basic Books and Mock Test Series are the ‘KEY’:
No matter how much you study and what books you follow, the basic NCERTs books still assume great significance as far as the Prelims are concerned. Be sure to be thorough with these books at the first place and keep on analyzing yourself from time to time. Mock test series can be a great friend in this. If you have not join any test series yet, then you can also test your UPSC proficiency VIAPTS 2020.
- Positive Attitude:
“You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you”. – Brian Tracy.
In the course of UPSC preparation, there will be ample number of times when it will seem that nothing is going right. It’s quite natural actually. Such a situation requires you to remain calm and have a positive viewpoint. After all, who all will go through such phases…??? The serious aspirants, right….!!!!! If you are feeling the heat, then believe us you are half way there. Now it’s just matter of how you hold up the things from there on.
- “Get Inspired, then Perspire and then Succeed”:
The internet is filled with innumerable success stories that started with nothing. Some names coming to mind include: Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg to name a few. Get inspired from such stories, whose next one can be yours. Just have an eye on the greater scheme of things and carry on success is bound to be yours.
Remember what Shiv Khera has to say about the Winners,
“Winners don’t do different things, they do things differently”.
Fair enough, this is what can make you the 1000 chosen ones among those unfortunate 5-6 lakhs aspirants. Get going now, you have a mountain to climb and the first step starts with the UPSC Prelims 2020. Believe in your capabilities; believe in yourself, rest will follow its own course. You write your own destiny, make it happening and beautiful.
