Indian International Science Festival to Be Held In Kolkata
The Indian International Science Festival (IISF), 2019 is scheduled to be held in Kolkata from November 5th-8th. Kolkata will be the city to host the event and theme of this year’s event is ‘RISEN’ India – Research, Innovation and Science Empowering the nation. The annual event is jointly being organized by the Science and Technology Ministries and departments and the Vijnana Bharti. It is one of the biggest platforms in the country for bringing together students, researchers, innovators, artists and general public for celebrating India’s achievements in science and technology.

India-Bangladesh Friendship Dialogue at Cox Bazar
The ninth edition of Bangladesh-India Friendship Dialogue will be held at Cox Bazar in Bangladesh from November 1. The two-day dialogue will cover a wide range of issues like trade and investment, connectivity, technology, energy, regional security, extremism and sustainable development among others. The dialogue aims to draw from learning and experiences in these sectors between India and Bangladesh.

PM Narendra Modi Attends 16th India-Asean Summit in Bangkok
PM Modi attended the 16th ASEAN Summit in Bangkok, Thailand. He stressed upon the significance of India’s Act East policy terming ASEAN as its core. He also highlighted the steps being taken to improve surface, maritime, air and digital connectivity. He further described India’s willingness to strengthen cooperation in areas of maritime security and blue economy.
He also welcomed the recent decision to review India ASEAN FTA saying it will improve economic partnership between the two countries.
‘Red Atlas Map’ Released For Flood Mitigation in Chennai
Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu unveiled the ‘Red Atlas Action Plan Map’ prepared by the Ministry of Earth Sciences to help the Tamil Nadu Government in devising effective flood mitigation strategies in Chennai. The atlas, with probable scenarios for different rainfall periods, aims at flood mitigation, preparedness, operations and management aspects. The manual provides information, including on corporation wards that are likely to be affected due to flooding, and the areas that may need evacuation in Chennai taking into account all historical datasets.
Both the atlas and the ‘Coastal Flood Warning System App (CFLOWS-Chennai), which was launched by the Vice-President, are intended as decision support systems covering aspects, including preparedness and prevention.

Ayush Minister Inaugurates National Research Institute of Unani Medicine For Skin Disorders
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH Shri Shripad Yesso Naik inaugurated today National Research Institute of Unani Medicine for Skin Disorders (NRIUMSD) upgraded from Central Research Institute of Unani Medicine (CRIUM) at Hyderabad. In his address, Shri G. Kishan Reddy called the researchers to find safe and viable solutions to prevalent health challenges, such as vector borne diseases, non- communicable diseases, cancer and tuberculosis.
Three Defence MoUs Signed Between India And Uzbekistan
India and Uzbekistan signed three memorandums of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in military medicine and military education during the visit of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. This was the first visit by an Indian Defense Minister to Uzbekistan in about 15 years. Mr. Singh held bilateral consultations with his Uzbekistan counterpart, Major General Bakhodir Nizamovich Kurbanov, after which they jointly presided over the curtain raiser of the first India-Uzbekistan Joint Exercise, “Dustlik 2019”.
