UK government approves Vijay Mallya’s extradition order
UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid signed the order to extradite Vijay Mallya, the liquor baron and Indian business tycoon from UK to India. A 14 days window has been given to Mallya to appeal in High Court against the order.
After considering all the relevant matters carefully, the order was signed by the Secretary of State. The decision came following an order of extradition of the fugitive businessman to face charges of fraud and money laundering by a UK court before 2 months, the case was filed against Mallya in India. It will follow a trial that took place over the course of nine months, ending in September, resulting Mr. Mallya’s arrest in April 2017, on an extraditionwarrant.
Ministry of Coal signs MoU with Poland’s Ministry of Energy
The Union Ministry of Coalsigned a Memorandum of Understanding with Ministry of Energy, Republic of Poland in New Delhi on February 4, 2019 in New Delhi on assistance in the field of coal mining. Grzegorz Tobiszowski, Secretary of State for Poland’s Ministry of Energy and Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary, Minister of State for Coal and Mines, both signed the MOU.
The MoU’s key importance is to nurture relations in the field of clean coal technologies and coal mining via the previously established research institutes, joint coal working group and academia between two countries.
ISRO sets up Human Space Flight Centre for Gaganyaan mission
On January 31, 2019,The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) unveiled its Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC)for its maiden manned space mission ‘Gaganyaan’ at ISRO Headquarter campus in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
- ISRO’s maiden manned mission Gaganyaan is planned for end of 2021 and. ISRO also aims to complete two unmanned missions; one is in December 2020 and the second one in July 2021.
- The maiden man mission will happen in December 2021 once the two unmanned mission is complete.
- A woman astronaut is likely to board Gaganyan, the first human spaceflight programme of Indian.
President Ram Nath Kovind to confer Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for Year 2017
The President of India, Ram Nath Kovindon is to confer the esteemed Sangeet Natak Akademi 2017 on February 6, 2019, during a special investiture ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Sangeet Natak Akademi’s General Council has selected 42 artists for a joint award, the artists are from the field of Music, Dance, Theatre, Puppetry and Overall contribution/scholarship in the Performing Arts for the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards 2017at its meeting in Imphal, Manipur that was held on June 8, 2018.
