1023 Fast Track Courts to be set up: Government approves proposals under Nirbhaya Fund
The legislature on Friday affirmed three new propositions – fast track exceptional courts, acquirement of scientific packs in rape cases and setting up video reconnaissance framework at 50 rail stations under the Nirbhaya Fund.
The choice was taken by the Empowered Committee of Officers headed by Women and Child Development Ministry (WCD) Secretary, Rakesh Srivastava.
The new propositions have originated from three services – Law, Home and Railways.
Under the reserve, the Ministry of Law and Justice has proposed to set up 1,023 Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs) to discard pending instances of assault and those under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act the nation over.
With aggregate budgetary implication of Rs 767.25 crore, the venture in the main stage might be set up in nine states with 777 FTSCs while in second stage 246 FTSCs will come up.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has proposed acquisition of measurable units for rape cases to kickstart use of such packs in states/UTs through TOTs (Training of Trainers), limit building/preparing for crime scene investigation in rape cases and fortifying of State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSLs) under Nirbhaya Fund with an aggregate money related ramifications of Rs 107.19 crore.
Under the Railway Ministry, the proposition has originated from Konkan Railway Corporation Limited for setting up video reconnaissance framework at 50 rail stations with an aggregate task cost of Rs 17.64 crore that will be used for observation equipment and embellishments. Likewise, on a basic level endorsement was given to the proposition, from Ministry of Road Transport and expressways, of C-DAC (Center for Development of Advanced Computing) for customisation, sending and administration of state shrewd vehicle following stage for wellbeing and authorization with AIS (Advanced Info Service) 140 details.
After the assault and murder of Nirbhaya in Delhi on December 16, 2012, the administration had started the Nirbhaya Fund conspire in 2013 to help state governments and NGOs working for ladies’ wellbeing.
